Pastoral Council
The purpose of the Pastoral Council is to advise the Pastor in understanding the needs of the parish from a spiritual, social, and service standpoint. The Council helps to plan and administer programs which enable the parish to evangelize its parishioners as well as those within the larger community. The Pastoral Council at Christ the King meets on the Third Tuesday of each month in the Christ the King Parish Center. The Pastoral Council at St. Mary meets on the Fourth Tuesday of each month in the St. Mary Parish Center.
Finance Council
The purpose of the Finance Council is to advise the Pastor in administering the financial resources of the parish. It advises in matters of fiscal responsibility, stewardship, and the maintenance of parish properties. The Finance Council at Christ the King meets on the First Tuesday of alternate months in the rectory (February, April, August, October, December). The Finance Council at St. Mary meets on the First Tuesday of alternate months in the Parish Center (January, March, May, September, November)
Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary
The Knights of Peter Claver, founded in 1909 in Mobile, AL, is a Catholic organization primarily of African Americans that exists to support local parishes as needed.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus was founded as a Catholic social group which formed to support Catholic widows. Today it is a strong auxiliary arm in many local parishes. The parishioners at St. Mary participate in a joint Knights of Columbus Council based at the Cathedral of St. Peter.
King’s Workers
All of the ladies of Christ the King Church comprise the King’s Workers. They support the parish at the discretion of the pastor, particularly helping maintain the liturgical environment of the church, providing bereavement ministry to grieving families, and planning parish receptions/events.
Catholic Women’s Association (CWA)
All of the ladies of St. Mary are members of the CWA. They support the parish at the discretion of the pastor, helping maintain the church, planning parish meals/events, and organizing outreach to the community.
Senior Swingers
The Senior Swingers is a purely social organization of Senior Citizens based at Christ the King although not limited to its parishioners. The Senior Swingers meet regularly on the Second Monday of each month.
Bible Study Group/Adult Faith Formation.
Sunday Morning Bible Study meets in the Parish Center at Christ the King after mass. There is also a group that meets on Wednesday nights, 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, in the Parish Center at St. Mary Church. Currently, this group is using the Little Rock Scripture Series model of Scripture Study. The current focus of lessons is the Gospel of Mark.
